Research On Screenplay

Initially, we knew briefly what scripts involve-such as stage directions-commanding the characters to position themselves or act using props and various tools, this is because i done Drama at GCSE. Also i am aware of the layout, such as a character’s name followed by dialogue. For example JIM: 'Give my sword so i can kill him'. Giving clear indication of whose turn it is to speak, when and what to say. I have learnt however, that in media it is not presented a script but seen as a screenplay- a form of script. This is because its written for the film whereas a script is written for a stage. A screen play is designed for shots and the camera person's instructions, not simply for stage directions and narrative. From this research specifically i have learnt how to present a script such as using capitals, so it is noticeable for the characters and the producer.

The screenplay introduces the setting such as INT abbreviating interior,
'Situated within or inside; relating to the inside; inner: "interior lighting' also EXT meaning outside and the definition for this was 'forming, situated on, or relating to the outside of something. The main purpose of screenplays is for the cinematographer (the person that plans all the shots) the director and the camera man to position the characters more importantly, highlighting the angle and movement of the camera. This is the main reason why shots are placed in the script before hand to prepare the staging such as the opening scene 'MID SHOT OF LUCY' to show the placement of shot, this particular shot is done to reveal half of the character but still have the focus on the face and reveal emotion. So overall i have understood the layout of a screenplay and hope to take this information on and place it into my main script. If you have any further information or suggestions let me know and stay updated :) thank you
