This is just a quick update to see how everyone is doing today. Id like to film the clock scene later on tonight and shall do so, i will keep you updated with how it all goes :)

Crime Watch
As i mentioned before crime watch really helped to inspire the different shots for my suspect, although it is not a film and a reality crime show i think this is more relevant because it will look more realistic and adapt to the audience. Take a look and tell me if you agree. This isant very detailed because the series does the talking. Please watch and give me feed back thank you

NRS Social Grade
Our group got together and started to do more in depth research on our audience. We defined our target audience as being a range from different ages and status. We originally only wanted teenagers from around 18, but we made a choice to make the audience have more variety so that we can have more people interested in our production. Our audience now ranges from social grades E(being unemployed/receiving benefits) up to C2(being skilled working class).
Interests and hobbies of our audience:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2011/jan/26/hobbies-british-class-survey- this is a link to show you what The Guardian thinks. Read and let me know if you agree.
Unemployed: This occurs when people are without work and are actively seeking work, most likely on job seekers allowance or benefits. Spends time thinking about updating their resumes while relaxing, playing video games, or sleeping. They tend to take part in activities that don’t intend on spending a lot of money. With all this into account they do sometimes save up what they have and go to the cinema!
Skilled working class: football, drinking in the local pub, minimum wage/benefits (£12k - £20k), drink beer, 3+ kids, tendency to 2 part time jobs, cinema is a treat.
This has given me enough background understanding to carry on with my editing and think about what the audience will like to watch.

Auditions

DSD held auditions for our female protagonist character; we needed to ensure it was someone dark haired as we are going against ‘blonde girl victim’ stereo-types but someone that is patient to work with, because filming hours are long are some scenes need to be repeated several times. So they have to have flexible hours, but most of all a good actress so that they can play the innocent victim.

We auditioned around twenty girls and found that some either had one quality from the above missing or they just did not meet up to our high standards.

We emailed all our actresses and told them our decision; because we couldn’t find anyone I decided I will put myself up for the role and film the parts I am not acting in. I was found to be quite good at it and we decided not to spend more time on this I should just do it. So I auditioned just like everyone else (as you can see and I got the role). I think it is good because I have got long black hair and I can make it longer with props such as hair extensions. I am also young like my target audience so they will be able to relate to me and sympathize with the victim.

Thank you

The ages we wanted defiantly started from eighteen as the films that are scariest from the horror genre usually will have a viewing age of eighteen. The max age for our audience will be around twenty-twenty, as the themes and situations in our production will be more suited to a younger generation rather than having people over thirty.
Audience

Step five Analysis
This step is all about the different edits we want to include. me, Simon and Daniel discussed about basic editing techniques we would like to use. The first is a simple cut to and fro from the man walking through the alleyway followed by a cut of the girl lying on the floor. This is done to simply quicken the scene but also build up tension for the audience.

Id like to present cross fades and blurs during the man walking through the alleyway, this is done to make the atmosphere foggy and dysfunctional but also to match how unclear his thought process.

Tim lapse is also very simple but effective, this is occurring when the clock is going to be shown the audience. Id like the angles to speed up and go back in time- this whole scene being fast pace.

All this is concluded with a white flash back just to highlight the fact that the audience are about to go in time.

We have also shown you a music step so here we have not gone into much detail. But we shall include the minimum of heartbeats, footsteps, radio static and even a scream. Although the scream is going to be debated upon. I think we should involve it, just to give the audience one last scare, this will make them talk about the film as there leaving, giving good advertisement. Whereas others think we shouldn’t do so as the victim is to weak to do so.

Meeting and Breaking Convention
Is it just me or every time i watch a scary film the victim is always blonde? :0
Well in my film i have challenged this stereo-type and made my self (a dark haired person) the victim, instead of a vulnerably innocent looking protagonist. I have been looking around to find prime examples where they meet up to these stereo types and look what i found... Not only can victims be blonde and bubbly, but evil characters are actually dark haired for example look in the The Grudge, the villan has clearly got dark long hair. Playing around with characters are often done in films to keep everything contemporary and exiting. I have also done this and with making my jet black hair work with the innocent 'look'. Going against the media's perception of blonde hair girls being dumb, vulnerable victims and placing myself in that position to prove that through camera shots such as, high angle and facial expression i can also demonstrate the innocent look and pull it off successfully, resulting me to go fight against the media's interpretation as i do not agree with stereo-types!
VERSES

 Prop Preparation
Hey guys! so although we have already filmed using a skull ring me and Daniel went into town to look at other rings that we might find more significant. From twelve until two i went out and found a outlet near college that had lots of Halloween costumes on sale as it wasn't Halloween any more so they were clearing out there stash. From this i found this strange ring with bats surrounding a house on the right there. I thought that it was quite humorous and wouldn't be very suitable for what image we are going for. I then came back into college, no yet giving up and starting looking online to see what our options where. Amazon was looking to expensive with rings starting off at £20 so i carried on looking but wasn't at luck with anything. From today. I have learnt that sometimes you do the best with what you have and that we do not have the budget of famous producers but we can still pull of a positive production presentational wise. My skull ring will do the trick i am sure, it looks quite like the one here but with one red gem on the skulls eye making it seem even freakier. You will clearly be able to see this ring in our clip and i appreciate any opinions any one has on it. Do you think it looks scary?

Throughout my blog i have been making suggestions off involving a time lapse this time has finally come. DSD want to show a time lapse of previous events, look at this example and tell me what you think. Thank you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEUqvJMy1nk
I took the liberty of taking a picture of the clock we would like to use, simply because its big and clear. But i found some personal issues with the clock, firstly, i was looking for a screw in the back of the clock where i can adjust the handles but i oddly i could not find one!
With this shocking disadvantage i am now forced to literally find another clock to use. I cannot simply move the handles with my fingers as this would be visible in the camera. I shall keep you updated with what i am going to result to. Any ideas i shall be grateful for. Thank you

Sound

Sound is very important in media as it forms and makes everything flow, but also highlights the mood and can create several emotions when being supported by camera shots.

Id like to add and imply foot step noises. For them to be loud but not to fast and not to slow. This will be listened to when the mysterious man is walking through the dark entrance into the main road. Building tension but also helping the audience go at his pace and how he is feeling, for example he is fearless so slow steps show a calm person, but loud can reveal that he has physical weight power but also important-due to the fact the audience are following him around at every step. I would like to also add non-diagetic foot steps as we tried as a team to create natural steps but failed because the wind was to loud and interfering. Playing around with Logic Pro has helped me understand all the different types of steps there are and what sort of assumptions each make. For example there was one sound me and Simon found humorous it was small and faced paced  and i thought that it sounded like a tiny animal much like a mouse running for food or a slice of cheese.

Many scary films include heartbeats. For example in Dawn Of The Dead these non-diegetic sounds are included before the subtitles are even showed. I think this is a very good technique to immediately capture the audiences attention. Heartbeats automatically give away the assumption that fear and danger is closeby. Id like to apply several heartbeat sounds when the young female is laying on the floor helplessly. Heartbeats also show a follow up of something extreme happening, the faster the beat the faster and pacier the scene.

Final Step Of Analysis
FINALLY! the team and i have a clear idea of exactly what we want to happen in terms of subliminal messages for the viewers to interact with, all of this being achieved through shots. As you are all aware of i have already spoken about a establishing shot, but now  have formatted a clear setting of where i would like the opening scene would be. I think to start of with a establishing of the front door at night will really show the danger and interference of the house. Id like this to be taken place at night as that is when the danger takes place, making sure all the night lights are on just to add a little extra emphasizes on 'suspicious happenings in a normal environment. From this shot lasting no longer than two seconds i want to cut straight to a 'unidentified' person walking through a alleyway with a mid shots of his back, so that the viewers understand his face is not being seen. Followed by a birds eye view, of him to show the aggressive manner he is walking in...all of these shows occurring and in under 10 seconds.

In frequent and continuous cuts (also dissolves) is what i am looking to achieve in my first one minute just to confuse the audience but keep them interested also these cuts will show two things happening at the same time-the young victim on the floor, the man getting closer to her front door- and reveal the destination of the 'unidentified' individual. The weather is always being taken into account here and from back ground research   i filmed at a time when it was foggy, to add to the unclear scenario and instability of the whole scene. I came up with the idea to have two and fro cuts of the victim on the floor followed by the man in all black walking through the alleyway. This was actually inspired and thought of when i recently watched crime watch and they successfully presented something like this. The victim laying on the floor is covered with blood and bruises she is in some distress, this makes the audience feel sorry for her and be some what uncomfortable. Two and fro cuts will enable the clip to be natural and flow and be current. The viewers will pick up engagement at this point and ask 'Why is the victim like this?' but of course these are only answered if the viewers where to watch the whole film- something i have thought about but not been my main priority. From here, i am taking it back into a time and literally filming a clock to create a time lapse. Picking up the pace even further after loosening tension is a great way to keep the watchers connected. Finally, i would like to follow this with a flash back of the girl during the day welcoming her 'new neighbor' to the area. Zooming into the skull ring is highly important as this is the connection between the neighbor and the killer, meaning they are the same person but for the audience to figure out.
thanks very much for reading, let me know what you liked and improvements i can make. :)
